Hey guys,

Does anyone keep any of the "small eye rays" depicted in this thread below?

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/stingrays-pixts-sharing.310760/

If so, PICS! Experiences with them?

If not, why dont people keep them? They look very interesting. Seems they need a big tank.

Would love to hear and learn more about them

These 2 species below seem to give the best results for a google search.

Heliotrygon rosai ("Coly Ray")

Paratrygon ajereba ("Ceja Ray")

Cheers guys and gals!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that avalability and awareness about them are both low.

I'm guessing Coly Rays would be legal in Oklahoma, also if Oddballs list is correct: "(11) Freshwater Stingray group: Paratrygon spp., Potomotrygon spp., and Disceus spp."

Im not in Oklahoma but will be eventually. Just thinkin' out loud to myself with the above comment. ^

My lfs gets a ceja ray every now and then listing it as a "peru stingray". They are really cool rays but like scott s scott s said, they arent super active. I personally am not a fan but they are pretty interesting rays.
I have seen that picture of the heliotrygon rosai everywere but never have seen them for sale or being kept.

How much do they sell for? I'd love to try one, one day!

Is the activity level the reason you aren't a fan?

I used to see ceja rays at the importers often, but always stayed away because they would only eat live fish. That being said, I never tried to keep one or wean one off live fish.

If someone who makes a living selling fish, tells me its not a good idea to buy a certain fish from them, I tend to listen.
