I have a friend in Tampa who is thinking about keeping fish, and I am curious about the water in that area. I know that tap water can vary greatly by area, and some FL water is very sulphury. Will she be okay with a standard hanging filter? Will she be able to do water changes using tap water and some conditioner?
Does anyone know about the water in Tampa?

Depends on what type of fish she will house, but most poeple use prime to condition water when doing w/cs. She should start out by keeping community fish enabling her to learn through the whole process before moving on to bigger and better things..........
just use prime when adding water, and otherwise, just make sure fish raised in different water are properly acclimated, in general there shouldnt be a problem...also consider that a lot of the fish at the LFS were most likely either bred in Tampa or made their way through there
