well, yes and know . . . my Rainbows never got past the egg-laying stage, because I had scavengers . . . I wasn't really trying to breed them, just letting nature take its course
BUT, my impression from their activity is you basically don't need to do much at all . . . I had them in a planted tank, and they laid eggs in a small flower pot; I have read that a flat rock will do nicely as well
FYI, you'll know when they are "in the mood" because their lower halves will turn black (it's pretty cool to see) . . . good luck!
