does anyone know what kind of pleco this is?

just got this guy from the lfs yesturday
he was in a tank with a 9 inch red devil and is pretty beat up. he is doing well now that he isnt being beat up anymore
he is about 7inch long
they gave me him for $8 so i had to get him
can anyone tell me what kind of pleco he is?

Don't know what kind it is, sure is beautiful! I'm sure it's very happy to get away from that tank you first found it in. I'm glad you were able to help it.

thank you so much i didnt think it was a common. sorry the pics are bad. they didnt know what kind it was and it is chewed up pretty bad it is hard to tell

they get quite large, mine is at 20" currently.

wow sure is a good looking fish. it is huge! i have him in a pretty big tank right now i will be upgrading soon so he will be happy if he gets that big
do they grow fast?

mine hit 12" whithin a year, and has taken close to 4 years to hit 20". ive also had him from the beggining of my fish "career", so he's been through plenty of abuse or i bet he'd be bigger by now.
