I can't find any manufacturer of a 40 gallon breeder in Plexi Glass. The dimensions I'm looking for are 36"x18"x16". Does anyone make this?

That dimension is not a 40g. 40 breeder is 36x15x16

According to both these sites, my dimensions are for a 40 gallon breeder

You have the correct dimensions for a typical 40B aquarium. The only acrylic's I have ever seen came from a small custom tank shop near Pittsburgh that is now out of business. I'm sure others make them but the glass one's can be had for next to nothing on Craigslist or the Petco dollar a gallon sale.

Man, that Petco dollar a gallon sale is mighty tempting. I called a bunch of them last night and word is, they will be having another sale by the end of this month. I just have never used glass tanks before and am hesitant due to possible leaking and breakage. Am I worrying about nothing?

Any tank can leak. The reason the hobby flourishes is that commercially constructed aquariums, glass or acrylic, are reliable to not leak, ...for the most part. There are no guarantees for anything man-made but, I wouldn't sweat a 40 since I don't sweat my glass (up to 450gal) tanks.
