Just wondering when buying a paint gun how does each gun compare to each other in best to worst and what I need to look for in buying a good paint gun??

How much painting are you going to be doing? If you're just looking to shoot a few things, I'd get something a step up from entry level and learn with it. Gun preference will vary by the guy (or girl) holding it. I'm not a big fan of fancy guns - anything that give an even band and gravity feed with adjustable air works for me. But then again most of what I do will be from track cars, not show cars... and doesn't need to be perfect mirror finish.

It's going to be for a job with a few cars and prob more later on. What kind of specs can you compare the guns through? I looked up snap on paint guns and they sell guns at walmart home depot??? Recommend any??

Most paint jobs (at least in CA) where HVLP (High Velocity, Low Pressure) guns are mandated , rely more on a good buffer, than a good gun!

I paint and do the body work on 8-10 racecars every year and the gun below is similar to what ive been using the past 2 years.

i use an astro hvlp. they run about $100 and i love it. ive sprayed a few flame jobs and blended silvers and light blues w/ it. used it on a couple pearls too. not a bad gun for the money. my buddies devilbiss gti is a awesome gun but alot more $$. better atomization for the high metallics. i usually clear w/ my astro if i use the gti.

if you want a siphon feed gun you cant go wrong w/ a devilbiss jga. not a hvlp but a damn good gun.
