i bought a salty set up and it came with a ~35 gallon wet dry which was full of bioballs etc. I built a sump so i am not using the wet / dry filter.
I am also setting up a planted tank but wont use it there due to CO2 loss. Does anyone still use them? If so, what would something like that go for? im not trying to sell it here, just wondering what a reasonable price is? it has no pump but otherwise has plumbing etc (i was thinking probably $50-100 )

I still use them. A very cheap and effective way to filter a tank. Value would depend on the size and configuration.

Why not, they are great for both freshwater and saltwater where there are only fish

I use them on all my tanks as my primary filtration. I would never buy one though. I make all of mine myself. MUCH cheaper that way.

Best way to filter a tank. And you can definitely use one on a planted tank with co2 if you do your homework beforehand. I did, and it worked just fine.

Any suggestions as to a make or model Wet/Dry filter. Its for a 125g freshwater fish only tank- medium/light bio-load? I would prefer one that allows for placement of chemical media and UV, etc.

The "Aqueon ProFlex Sump" and the "Berliner WD-125 Wet/Dry Filter" seem to keep popping up when I'm researching. However this is my first foray out of the canister and HOB world so I thought I'd tap the collective wisdom

Any thoughts would be appreciated,
thanks

Lolz they are GREAT best way to filter them. I was planning to make one myself until i found the price on the pump. I was like HOLY **** and just bought a normal filter. If anyone can suggest a good 24 hour pump that is pretty powerful enough for a 100 gallon tank at a reasonable price (hopefully under 50 dollars) and where to find it like in Lowes, Home depot etc. Plzzzzzz PM me
