Does anyone use a denitrator?

Does anyone use a denitrator, denitrifier, biodenitrator, or anaerobic biological filter? Do they really work? Are they worth it?

My denitrator consists of a 5/8" vinyl hose which I bought at Ace Hardware for $4.69 along with a 5-gallon pail acquired for free from the bakery down on the corner.

Is yours the type that you need to suck on the end of the hose to get the denitrification started? That's the one I got also.

Yup, that's the same model that I have. Some of the nitrates usually ends up in my mouth too, but I just spit 'em out into the pail.

Yeah, that's the best we've got for now. Things are in the works, though.

Algae scrubbers are the best way to go here by a long shot.
However, I haven't seen one on the market. You have to build them yourself.
