this happened to me 2x already as i was doing my wc, i decided to listen to some alternative musics and put the volume up high, when i re open the glass cover... my aro WENT BERSERK!! :screwy: like darting and darting and jumping and jumping (but cant reach the top coz tank is half full) so i stayed away in hoping it was just startled by me... but nooooo... it keeps banging himself to the top corners of the tank then it hits me... the musiccccc!!! i immediately turned it off as fast as i could then the aro stopped headbanging :headbang2 too! crazy aro... the 1st time this happened i thought it was just a coincidence, this time around im pretty sure something triggers them from the very loud sounds.. lost 2 big scales got a scrape on the cheek and major bruises on the top of its body... :(

anyone experience this?

thats crazy. im always listening to loud music in my room and my aro didn't mind it. maybe yours just wants to hop in a mosh pit? :cool-1:

I agree with turbo. My son is a drummer!!! And his drum kit is 15 feet from the tank. At 17 years old, you can imagine what kind of music (korn, system of the down....) at first I was a little concerned about this, but the fish behaved absolutely 100% normally. Isn't that wierd? on the other hand, different arowanas have different hang ups. I had an arowana in 80's that would absolutely flip out when the tank light went off if it wasn't bright enough in the room. On two occasions I had to pick him up off the floor. So, all I can say is, try some R&B. LOL

My aro doesnt seem to react to loud souns. My big one doesnt even flinch if I accidentally drop the glass lid when I open it.

My black aro is right beside my TV and when I crank the home theatre system (which get pretty loud) it doesnt act any differently.

My arow loves it when i blast music he swimms against the glass trying to come closer to me and stuff and all my fish seem to come as close as they can to my side of the tank.

I think the only kinda stuff the fish can even hear is the bass. It doesn't seem like they are bothered by that anyways. I agree though. You should throw in some more aros and let him mosh. That is what he really wants!
