Does bio spira and all those quick cycle products really work?

How do they keep the bacteria alive in the bio spira? and how much would a good bottle cost? I never seen or used it before but someone recommended it so I think I might give it a shot.

And what exactly do the other cycle products do?, someone said only bio spira is the real cycle speeder.
 
Is it something like beneficial bacteria? I heard they are good too.. not too sure if it works but I added to be on the safe side..
 
bio-spira is no longer available... i uesed something like fritze-zyme turbo start and was a waste of money..a 29 gallon was like almost 6 weeks and still didnt cycle..
 
There is a good article on PlecoFanatics about all these products. I'll search for it and get it for you.
