Has anyone had experience with bio-spira for speeding up cycling a tank??? Since it has to be refrigerated, and shipped express overnight, all in all this stuff is expensive!!! But does it really work???? Anybody who has tried it let me know.

Yes. It can be very effective in shortening the cycling process as long you remember a few importiant details. BB require ammonia to grow and of course to stay alive so the amount used needs to be in direct preportion to the fish load in the tank. It's also been my expierance that Bio-spira works best with fish rather than fishless cycling.

Don't ever use it expecying a tank to be cycled in a mater of days however. You'll still need to be pariant and add fish slowly over a period of weeks for the BB to match.

Worked in my 100 and 180....As mentioned before, make sure there is a source of ammonia for the bacteria to feed on...For example, I filled my 180 with 40 large Goldfish feeders and 2 packets of the 90g Bio-Spira....Stuff works and I recommend it...

I completely cycled a tank over night with it. What I did was added already cycled into my Eheim 2217 and just dumped the about 150 gallons worth of Bio-Spira in the 125 tank. Perfect readings the next day and I tested everyday after that and NOO problems what so ever and I didn't even add much cycled bio media either. I added the fish right before I dumped the Bio-Spira in.

Just get your media ahead of time and dump it into an established tank for a few days. When it comes time to setup the new tank, dump the media into the filter, add your fish, and viola...instant cycle.

Bio-spira is soooo expensive. Save your money for fish.

Worked for me, started my SW tank with it.
