according to caribsea their instant aquarium sand doesnt require the tank to be cycled in the conventional way. im not buying it. was think of still doing a fishless cycle. what do you think?

Sunset Gold Directions
General Use: 1) Put Instant Aquarium™ in the aquarium at the rate of around a pound per gallon.

2) Add water to the aquarium making sure to place something on top of the substrate so as to not disturb the substrate.

3) Turn on heaters and filtration.

4) After the tank is stable (usually within 24 hours or less) add first few fish and begin feeding normally.

5) Begin stocking with additional fish after a week or so

im thinking that nothing good will happen if i try this. lol

the sand is supposed to contain live bacteria but i doubt its still alive. i will let it run for a few days before i do anything if there are no signs of nitrate then its definately not cycled.

ill wash out my other "cycled" filter media in the new tank. should speed things up.

It should take you at least 2 weeks to do a proper & complete cycle. Could be as long as 4 or 6 weeks, depending on temp & BB supplements. Just FYI...

if you use your old tank water old substrate you should be fine

i cant use my old subsrate im going with sand in the new tank. but i can use old water and media.
