Hey guys,
I was just browsing Big Al's and I am curious, do products like this work at on freshwater setups?
http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=23813;category_id=2543

This is one of several options for this type of lamp that the website claims is "great for freshwater too."

Anyone have any experience with color enhancing lamps on their tanks? I just thought it would be cool to get my GT's to glow even more than they do now.

Thanks

o rly? i didnt know light would make a difference in their colors.
how does a regular flourescent bulb do?

starlight starbright first fish i see tonight, spectrum blue spectrum white, fish look better but plants are an issue right.

that bulb looks like it's got a pretty nice spectrum for a wide range of stuff. Not a bad bulb. I'd like to see what it looks like on a tank. Got any pics :-) ???

It doesn't cost much more than a regular flourescent bulb, very good value. It looks brighter than a regular flourescent and highlights fish and plants very well comparatively. Here are some pics:

Enhanced bulb in the first pic, Flash from camera on the second pic.

im about to place my order in as well. :D
is shipping overpriced on dr. fosters? havent ordered from them before yet,

They definitely are overpriced for shipping but you save in the end if you buy a bunch of things at once because the prices on a lot of things are much cheaper than in stores. I've ordered from them a bunch of times, pretty good service. The more you order, the more you save for shipping because they have set prices for price ranges and each time it goes up they only add $1 or so but the starting price is high for shipping ($7.99 I think for $0-30). Before xmas they had free shipping so I bought 2 filters and a heater :).
