Does he have potential?

i say “he” though I’m unsure of the sex,
He’s about 4.5 inches now
He was about 2” when I got him from petland, he was in a filthy 90 gallon with about 20 other larger fish. They didn’t even have a label for him, got him for $10. What do you guys think so far?

Thanks, I might vent him to know for sure if it’s a he. the black barring comes out more when he is stressed but when he isn’t it looks as though it’s faded and slightly broken up like in the second pic, What do you think?

He’s got 1/3 of a 125 right now, I had to put him behind a divider cuz he was trying to murder my other 4 baby jags. In a couple months I’m going to get rid of 2 of my baby jags so that will leave me with 3 Including him. I plan to divide all 3 alone and let them grow to around 6-7 inches then I’ll select one male to keep, the others will go to the pet store
