Does the color of the light uses e.g 3000k or 10000k make the fish's color more or less vibrant? I have a feeling it must, I remember reading something about it somewhere I just can't find it again. For example in the tank my Texas is very blue, but when I use flash photography the blue is gone. I don't care about photo's but just want to bring the most color out.

no.

but it affects how your eyes see the colour.

you can take the same fish, put it under a 6000K (yellowish) bulb and it will look different to you as compared to under an 18,000K bulb (more bluish).

your fish looks different with the flash because the flash 'washes' out the colours.

try using a camera setting with no flash for better pics.
