Don't kill, shot, scream or Ban me. I have no idea if it is possible or has been discussed. I was thinking about the plight most of us have about buying tanks. Throughout the threads the same comment is made, "I wish I could afford to buy a big or another tank." With so many of us trying to keep "Monster-sized fish" and also just collecting amazing fish, even if it were only 1,000 or 3,000 of us. Even if it was 700 of us buying tanks and supplies. The vendors would make money from us and by having us directed to them. Wouldn't it be nice to get a 300 gallon tank for $500.00-700.00 dollars? Yeah I said it, it would be beneficial to the vendor still. Lets say $500.00 for the tank X 100 tanks=PROFIT. It keeps the tanks from just sitting there, collecting dust and having to reduce the price drastically at the end of the year. The tanks would be gone and new ones coming. The shipping could be reduced drastically because the vendor would use the same shipper at volume. Lets say for May, we order and paid for 300 tanks to be shipped. We order and pay for 200 Eheim filters and the stuff needed for the filters. We order 75 water pythons, 100 test kits or the replacement strips, etc...100 bottles of Prime de-chlorinator(Your brand choice) 400 gallon containers of Prime, 300 various 300 gallon tanks stands, 1,000 various containers of dry fish food, etc... See where I am going with this. We could order things Monthly, bi-monthly, etc...this would all be broken down according to your location. If you run out of something before the shipment buy it from LFS. Matter of fact, LFS could participate too. It is only a question. ;) :headbang2:headbang2:cool-1::cool-1::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Please stop mass posting and typing in all caps. Gets annoying to see. Maybe post all your questions in one thread?

But, good idea, I also wish there was some kind of deal for MFKers.

It's called a group buy.

I belong to forums for cars and motorcycles, they have group buys on them.
You can buy parts at a discount when they have them.
It could work with aquariums too "IF" you could get a manufacturer or distributor to participate. There would need to be a minimum number of purchases to get the group buy special rate.

didn't even read the entire original post, or any of the other posts. but, isn't this an international forum? would't it be better to contact people in your area?

I am talking about having more buying power than just your state and mine. We have more buying power as mass. Like Kawamikie says about buying motorcycles and cars. I guarantee they don't pay full price. You laugh, but we would all jump on a rectangular glass tank or $150.00-230.00 instead of $325.00. Yeah I write paragraphs and type in caps. I am learning "forum etiquette." I'll work on it.

With cars it's a lot easier to because the group agreed to buy the same part without an variations. With aquarium tanks nobody is going to agree on the same size, same color background, or same thickness of the acrylic. Thus, this make a group buy for tanks for almost impossible.

The vendors create a list of the tanks they have in small, medium, large and extra large tanks. For those that want a customized tank, have talk with vendor about their specs. If you want a different background on one of the tanks off the list, there will a delay. I think that is standard practice.
