i have no quarantine tank available right now and i added redhump geophagus to my oscar tank. the geos had ich which i knew. i came back to my house after a few days and the oscar had some white blotches too big for ich, as well as some weird mucus on one side that had a purple hue at this point the tank was treated for ich. the white blotches and mucus showed no real improvement and a spotty pattern appeared on the dorsal tail fin as well as sections of the pelvic fin turning transparent appeared and i changed the medication from ich x to melafix which i then changed the meds to salt. this has been a 3 week process the oscars behavior didnt seem to be too affected he seems a little more sluggish now but i think hes just getting older. the signs of a fungal or bacterial infection have gone away but i cant tell if his fins are getting worse. his fins also may just be developing a pattern i really dont know.

just to clarify the small white dots resembling ich on the oscar are just due to particles in the water before i was concerned i was doing too many water changes so i slowed it down

the dots/blotches that appear to be lighter in color are what im referring to and on the pelvic fins there appears to be nicks or tears but the fins aren’t actually damaged theyre just extremely transparent or thin in those sections ( it was hard to get a picture of him especially with his fins fully extended)

He's probably in with another fish? ...looks like minor aggression damage...

Oscars like other fish have whats called seams on there fins that can be different colors depending on the Oscar.

[/QUOTE those are very handsome fish my oscar has the same line i figured it had to do with fin growth im talking abt the blotches and spots under the line it seems that hes healing from the infection he had before but his fins still have the apparent damage or whatever i also had him in the same tank with some wild caught amphibians so it could be something somewhat uncommon
