does not look like it to me....;) looks like he got a little scraped up though.. nothing to get excited about ..just keep an eye on it.

Thats good. And I'm also wondering about his fins. They are ripped but are not healing. Same with his tail fin. (His tail fin was ripped when I got him)

Ph 6.5
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0.25 (It was higher before but I finally got it down)

Fins take along time to heal... how long have you had him.. somehow i remenber it has only been about a month???? If so it takes alot longer to really see improvement in fins..scales should be doing much better though.does he eat good? Maybe you should add a little garlic oil to tank ..sometimes it helps the healing process and also good for appetite.

Thank you very much for the great replies. I have had him for a little longer than a month and he grew a lot. I got him at two inches and now he is four. (excluding tail)

your very welcome ... he sounds like he is doing very well... as long as he eats good and growing... everything else will fix it self in time.. no one knows why they get HITH for sure..but one of the most important things that helps to avoid HITH is keeping clean water {lots of water changes} and varied diet.. and minimum of stress..it seems to me all cichlids are carriers of this dreaded HITH ..and something triggers it coming out.. so this is the only advise i can give to prevent it.. once they have it {HITH} its almost impossible to get rid of.. the most you can do is keep it at bay..my older male jag has it and he probably always will..constant medicine etc is the only thing that helps.

Thanks again for the advise. I try my best to keep the water clean. I changed 20% yesterday. I usually do changes 1-2 times per week. I feed him wardley cichlid pellets, Reptomin pellets, frozen blood worms, and the occational feeder fish.

does yours like algae pellets once in awhile? Mine are always grabbing them as they float down to plecos..good diet!!!:D

Mine looks at them for a few seconds as they float down and then turns away. I never saw my pleco eat them though
