I have a sponge filter in my 125 gallon tank that has been in there for about 3 months. Some of my fish are getting aggressive as they are breeding and i want to take one of my EBJD's out and put her into a 20 gallon tank. If i use tank water and this sponge filter will the tank still have to cycle or will i be good to go? I dont want my female EBJD to die! they are very hard to come by in arizona especially at a mature size.
Does my tank have to cycle?

if you use a good amount of tank water and the sponge filter, i would let it run for a couple of hours just to be sure.... it should be fine though
and just to let you know, Tropical Treasures at 28th avenue and Bell Road in Phx has baby EBJDs for like $40 i think..........

no reason why you can not do this , should work fine , that is the way i set up all of my new tanks and never have had any problems

never had any real spike when useing the old filters and half min of the water and never lost a fish yet due to it , if you have a graval or sand base then also use some of this in the new tank
