Does the amount of flow through media encourage or discourage growth?

My question is does bb build up the same with all water flows? Fast or slow?

Example: If I had pumps of 550g, 2000g, or 7500g, going through three differen't filter boxes with the exact same media in each box, what would be the result's???

Would the 7,500g be the best or would it flow to fast for the bb to build up, or would it just take longer????

Or would the 550g have the most bb because it would flow through the media, nice and slow?????

hard to determine. how large is the area this water is being spread over? 7500 gph of water through a 2" by 2" area is much more intense than this going through a 25" by 25" area.

the bacteria in our filters become very strongly attached to the biomedia you'd need a lot of force to dislodge them.

Depends a lot of the media and if its submersed or not. For example if your using bacteria house media submersed a low flow rate is preferable. IF its not submersed a massive flow rate works better.

I highly doubt you'll be able to dislodge your bacteria. Larger systems use insane flow rates, so I'm sure you'll be fine.
