will a spotted raphael cat get as big as a stripped 1?any other differences u can think off ?i just got a 2" spotted 1 yesterday for 6.59 for clean up duty.:grinno:

Checked three of my books and as usual got different answers. But it looks like the average size is around 5 1/2 inches, so to answer your question is no. The spotted will not grow as large as a striped, which has a average size (by the three books I own) of 9 inches. They are still good bottom feeders even if they do not get as big.

thanks for the responce OH1OFIERO i think the spotted is nicer looking than the striped but the smaller size may be its downfall as it will soon be in a cichlid community tank time will tell.

mine are both arround 8 inches spotted and striped

I had a spotted and 2 striped living together for 4 years, and they were all around 8-8.5".

I only take the info with a grain of salt and not gosple as most books I have found say that fish such as the Irridesant Shark only grow to a max size of 24 inches, but still if it a species I am not familiar with they do tend to be a good starting point for info. And if you believe that the Irredesant only grows to 24 inches before the fact that being cramped in a tank too small stress it out and kills it before it can grow larger than 24 inches, then I have some property in Florida and an unfinished tower in France that I would like to sell you.

The rock that you see is about the size of a computer monitor, these guys are only 4", got rid of the big ones years ago. I just happened to have my camera with me when I walked by the tank and saw these guys out for the first time in 9 months, I bought all my stripes when they were around 1". The biggest one is 6" right now, I had to remove everything in the tank to find him, other than that I have never seen him since the day he went into the tank over a year ago, the smaller ones seem to verture out once in while, there are 7 all together in the tank.
