My female Blue Acara (breeding pair) has always looked a little... strange. I've always noticed her body shape and purple hue look more and more like a convict - and less like my male Blue Acara - as she grows up.

Today I was looking for other breeding pairs online and they just look the same... the difference between the two sexes isn't as noticeable as mine.

What do you think?

Okay thanks. I guess she just has a weird body shape.. and a terribly small mouth. It's so small that it's always busted from lip locking.

Definitely Blue Acaras - there's multiple variants depending on location, can't remember which show the neon orange linings from memory. Nice pair.

Agreed. For sure not a convict of any origin. They are stunning. Very nice looking fish. I wish I was better with Acara's for more accurate ID but I am terrible with them.

seems like a typical blue acara but i will be first to say those are beautiful ones at that

I know nothing about acaras.... But I know that after seeing your pics I wouldn't mind getting one some day. Beautiful fish!
