Still sort of a noob to the whole tank biz. Maybe not a total noob, but, I'm at the intermediate stage. Anyways, my boyfriend and I WERE building a 120 gallon...but decided it wasn't worth the effort and recently sold the scraps we had. Now, we want to buy a 300 gallon brand new eventually. Hopefully sometime this year. Anyways, I want to stock it pretty heavily. Lots of bioload. I can across this set up online:

Now, do 300 gallons come in different sizes? This one is 6 foot. Would a 7 foot one (if it exists) be better? Or does it just depend on my space? Also, it comes with some filtration, but I'm assuming that one SUMP won't be enough. Would it be a good idea to add a Fluval FX5 to the mix?

Let me know what you think, thanks.

I've looked at that setup before... it seems to be a pretty good deal. I wanted an 8 foot aquarium, so it didn't work for me.

That sump probably won't be enough if you are going to have a heavy bio load. An FX5 or two would help. I wonder if the freight delivery is included in the price.

300 gallons do come in different sizes... this site has some examples: http://glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2

Yeah, it claims free shipping on orders over $49... I hope this counts! Lol.

As far as bioload, what I want to put in it is 4-6 oscars, 2 silver arrowanas, and a clown knife fish. Mayyyybe more, if it can handle it. But I think with as big as the arowanas and knife will get, that that might be just fine, lol.

Yes, that is why I am going for a 96" aquarium... plan to get arows too. :)

I'm thinking the longer the tank, the better for the arowanas sake.

I've seen that tank twice before, one I would buy and the other I wouldn't.
the one I would had dual corner overflows with 2 holes per. the one I wouldn't had 2 holes drilled much more towards the middle of the tank, about 12" from the back and about 18" from the sides.
something to consider.
tanks come in whatever shape/sizes the maker chooses to put together. the biggest 6' my manufacturer will make is 30" wide. 6" narrower than that tank.
as far as your sump question goes-the Monterey bay aquarium uses a single sump for it's largest aquarium. they use the ocean.
a sump is as big as you make it. in your case, you could get a 600 gallon sump for your 300 gallon tank and use enough pumps to exchange the water 100x an hour. way way more than you need.
if you get/make a sump that is sufficient for your needs, it will be. you won't need anything else. in my case I designed my sump to be enough for my 245, but will still be running a HOB (actually 3, but only one will be powered) for refugiums and a custom internal for circulation in the substrate.
