Needle fish. Not gar but the little ones that only get 12 inchs or so. Im really interested in these and i cant find much solid information on the internet. so anyone out there keep them?

I read that just wondered if there was anyone on here with real world experience you know? I think a shoal of these would be amazing looking if the tank was done right. I was thinking like sand bottom with some plants and rootsy wood hanging down into the water.
Yep.. I love my guy had him about 6 monthes now. carnivorous tetra species. Think along the lines of Exodons.. imo way cooler. do best in groups. But I only have 1 and he does well by himself. keep him/her in a 40B, grew fast. won't take anything but live, tank gets pellets for the Oscar daily. seen him try a pellet or 2 but never actually eat them. at 12" my guy can take down a 3" goldfish.. or... brichardi african cichlid -.-... Not to be kept with anything even remotely small enough to get eaten.
got my guy 1/2 price due to his upper jaw being gone. Interestingly enough it has completely grown back now. Would have never guessed. their nose is rather sensitive to scrapes and bumps. I don't have any deco in the upper water colum of my tank for this reason. Very hearty ime, though would deffinately advise a good lid. pretty cool to watch him hunt minnows. but otherwise just chills out 'n floats.
