I've heard many dog articles etc talking about a good diet for your dog, but never elaborating.

Other than dog food, what is a good dog diet?

I feed mine dog food and dog biscuits. I try to get dog food that has vegetables in it etc.

I also feed him ham, mortadela sausage with olives, eggs, goat's cheese, camembert, various other cheeses. He's a real cheese fiend, he goes nuts for it, but I only feed him a very small amount at a time.

Occasionally give him some marmite on toast or peanut butter on toast as a treat.

Give him a fresh bowl of water 5 or 6 times a day.

What do you feed your dog?

And also - how much should a dog the size of a small beagle eat do you think? My dog is a puppy/dog, around a foot high at the shoulders, quite long like a beagle, and of average stature. Not slim and not fat.

How much should it eat in terms of dog cans/biscuits etc. A whole can of dogfood a day or more? The cans in question are 400G, a bit bigger than a coke can.

We feed our little jack russel Science Diet. It pretty much give it everything it needs. It has a perfect coat, perfect build, and it is very regular! we always make sure she has food in her bowl, and I guess we are lucky because she doesnt over eat. Once in a while she will get a bite of "people" food as a treat.....she goes nuts for steak:)

dogs dont need a varied diet, this is not good for there sensitive digestive system, if you have a quality brand dog food (science diet, eukanuba, iams, are some examples), there is no need to suppliment its diet with anything else.

glad you give your dog small amounts of that stuff rumble.

honestly I take my dogs very seriously and I have done alot of research on dog foods and I will be the first one to proudly brag that my dogs get ol'roy brown bag from walmart!! it is actually a very good dog food and is way more cost effective compared to the rediculously expensive science diet and eukanuba brands. it is full of vitamins and omegas and its' primary ingrediant is real meat! I know some of the others will flame me for it but I am very satisfied with this food!!
