My dog LOVES to get into the cat litter and help herself to a yucky little treat. Ive always stopped her but once in awhile she will sneak one by me! :irked:

Anybody with a cat and dog have this happen? Can anybody tell me why my dog does this? Am I correct in assuming that it is completely gross and unhealthy for my dog?

I was thinking that perhaps she is deficient in something, causing her to crave something in the cat turd?

Im guessing the dog is younger?
for some reason younger dogs do stuff like that. my gold lab always eats my cat $h1t

dogs will remove unwanted things from there enviroment... they smell the poo rotting etc....

same prob here.....my puppy does it to. i think he likes the crunch of it.....i assume your dog is eating the crunchy one's and not the soft ones.

She eats the crunchy ones BUT she is 11 years old. She is a pomperianian/jack russel mix.

Anybody know the health effects of this???

my dads dog eats poo all the time... especially its own fresh out of the oven.... dogs been really healthy for many years... i wont let it lick my face though...

It's a pretty common problem. I don't think it will hurt the dog (other than it's breath:irked:).

There is stuff at the pet store or maybe online that you feed your cat to make their poop unapetizing to dogs.
Maybe instead of tasting like Sh** it tastes like strawberries or something.

But i used to work at a vet and we had some product like that. I dont remember what its called, but just do a search or go to www.drsfostersmith.com

Bad Breath.. Yeah I know Dan beat me to it.

My dog doesn't do this at all(I think because she knows the consequences) but my brothers/sisters dogs do do this primarily when no ones home. I do believe there is something you can buy to put either in the cat food or directly in the littler box to discourage this.
