Dogfish?

Here in Michigan we have an ancient fish we call a dog fish, head looks like a snake, body is similar to a bichar but much wider. Anyone have info on these or have you ever seen one for sale. I caught one a couple years ago but didn't think to put it in a tank.

The way they bite, one old name for them was Lawyer fish, don't know why. great fish.
 
They look completely black underwater and have a really eery, imposing look under water. Especially if you are fishing with 10 lb mono.
