Hi all :)
I would like to hear what kind of treats you guys give your dogs as rewards, what have you guys found dogs like that is good for them? Anything specific for training?? Thanks again!

I use natural balance rolls for training or just some small squishy treat. I use hot dogs too as a beginning training treat if the dog isn't overly food motivated. As far as general treats here are few of my dogs current ones uploadfromtaptalk1402374293338.jpg

Hey Mike! Natural Balance Rolls? Is that the green stuff in the jar? Are those Blue berries?

Oh no they look like a sausage essentially uploadfromtaptalk1402375407750.jpg here is a small one and a cut piece from my treat bag. You can cut them into small pieces for easier use in training. Its actually a blueberry based treat although I have given my dog blueberries on occasion

Question Mike,
it's been a while since I've had a dog, but I thought I remember reading you're better off NOT using treats in training. Have things changed or am I remembering wrong lol?!

Depends honestly, initially I use treats but not for ever. I use it for luring them and the initial reward for the behavior but once they understand I use marking and hand signals along with verbal command

IMO use anything your dog responds to and only use it during training times so eventually they know what time it is and what they've got to do to get what they want , it could be a squeeky toy , ball or treat as long as they know they have to work for it as a reward :)
Chopped up cooked chicken breast is a good one dice it into small cubes and take some out with you when its walk/training times
But make sure whatever you decide to use only comes out during training and only given once command has been followed
When's the new arrival landing anyway mate ?

Very true see what your dog values as a reward and use it, wether it be food, praise, or play.

I bet you are mate :D when we chose swift we couldn't have him for another 5/6 weeks it felt like a lifetime to wait , I kept taking the kids to see him every week at the breeders house untill he was old enough to bring home
