i just dropped my celphone [motorola SLVR] in my 5 gallon bucket while water changing.
i got it out and immediently turned it off.
opened up the backing and removed the battery and sim card.
it has been drying in a window for quite some time now
i did the same thing ......... i dropped my Verizon VCAST phone in my tank......i just did what you did and waited a couple days.........it was fine after three days and still works great..............
I dropped my old t- mobile into my 125g messing with a filter.etc,................ BS'ing on the phone.......bad combo.................= 1 trashed phone........................My wife dropped her new motorola v330 in a big puddle......ditto........trashed..........although my buddy that works for a major cell company said to call and tell them that it just stopped working........you will have to go through all the dumb q's about plugging it in to 3 diff plugs......then car charger....etc.................but ultimatley you will most likely get a new phone free (you pay shipping)...........did it with the wifes v330..................just make sure to check that the water mark (little white paper circle thing on back of phone , behind battery), so that it is not pink or purple............that means that is was under water for a while!!!!
most of the damage is done when the battery is connected and the water shorts components on the board, If you get lucky it will still work but the life of the phone will be dramaticly reduced. Removing the battery immediately was a good idea. If your able to, strip it down and soak the main pcb in alcohol(ethanol, isoprop etc..) overnight then blow all of the alcohol off(compressor and air nozzle). At the very least strip it down and blow the water out. If you don't do this, you'll run the risk of rust and once this happens..........your screwed
Manufacturers don't usually cover impact damage or fluid ingress.....
Ive dropped house phones, cell phones, and car keys (alarm) into buckets while doing water changes. Just dry them out for a good day and it should be good as new.
A relative of a co-worker dropped his in the toilet. It was pretty funny when it got stuck in the tube and you could hear it vibrate against the toilet.
They had to remove the toilet from the floor, and the phone actually still worked. I was amazed. ( I dont think I would want that phone after that anyway)
