not sure on the led light i should get. they have a few models i have been looking at. one is a 10000k and the other is a 6500k. both have blue moon lights and both have around 78 leds. any help would be great.

the plants include ornamental swards, amazon sward, baby tears, and a few others.

fish stock is

bushynose pleco
misc teteras
hatchet fish

i have 2 sponge filters in the tank right now.

I've never used over 6500K on my FW plants, I believe higher temperatures are really only beneficial in reefs. Will an LED fixture have enough oomph for Baby Tears? Good luck!

thanks, i don't know much about complex planting. i just know hydroponics and swords. the 10000k has a higher lumen count so i thought that is what was necessary. i have been going over the stickies, but i can't make much sense of them.

I found this article somewhere, here maybe. Anyway, it's a long read, and if you want, you can always skip to the LED section. Basically, the article is trying to put down the generalized rules of thumb on W/gal and lumens. These rules get thrown out the window when dealing with newer technologies (newer florescent, Compacts, etc), especially LEDs. I think that FW fixture will be great (kinda want one myself). The marine fixture would be too harsh IMO.

so my light came in today and it looks pimp! i would do a vid and some pics, but i will wait for a little bit. i got some more plants and they gave all the fish ich:irked:. this includes my afro aro so i am pissed off!!! aro doesn't look good, but i hope it will pull through. it started shedding slime coat today so we'll see how this goes.

haha the exact thing just happened to me today! Added some frogbit and hornwort from a vendor and a friend, and one of them had The Ich. Bought some salt, cranked the temp, and away we go. Looking forward to pics and vids. Of the lights. Not the ich.

so you know what i mean...lol...heat + salt + prime + time should= a win against the ich. i hate them little invertebrate bastards! might go look for some baby tears tonight. since i am in the middle of the ich treatment why not. then i wont have to do it twice.

afro aro and all but one of my tetras died last night so i am starting this tanks fish stock all over again. not sure which way i will go with it. plants and light vid will be soon though since all the sick fish are gone.
