I live in central Florida and was doing some dipnetting today for Gambusia in Lake George. I saw some little red-tailed fish and managed to catch one. It's not a flagfish because it's not deep-bodied. It looks like some sort of killifish but google didn't really help me with native killifish species. Does anyone have any ideas?

Unfortunately it was mostly Gambusia. We were in a deep canal so not many little fish are brave enough to venture out. I'd like to find some slower moving streams and creeks to try again.

for sure a golden top minnow. I catch them all the time near UCF. You ever go dip net out in titusville? There are a ton of different little killifish, gobies, blennies, and random fish that can be pulled up.

I live out here in titusville and am usually dip netting at fox lake, I catch least killifish, gambusia's and got lucky and got a swamp darter too.

In a small aquarium you could put Least killifisha and Swamp darters together (5-20g) to make a micro-biotype tank
