Everything Ive read says weather loaches are peaceful. So I had 3 in with my goldfish. Been fine for a few months. Yesterday I came home to find my black moors eye was white and swollen. I caught a loach going after it. Separated the loaches out and am treating with antibiotics. Hoping the moor makes it. Just thought I'd share my experience. I won't keep loaches and moors in the same tank again.20190528_214525.jpg

Wow, I've never found dojo loaches to ever be aggressive, I've seen them eat shrimp and snails, but that's because they can't see very well and just sift around in the sand to see if there's anything good and they noticed something good when they come across a shrimp or snail

I think he's just sucking slime. Doesn't seem aggressive per say. But definitely hurt the fish.

Weather loaches like to burrow under sand or fine substrate. The gravel in you're tank isn't ideal and could cause a distraction. I did hear of certain loaches having aggression, but weather loaches are more milder in behavior. It might just be the environment! Hope you're moor recovers.

Hell I've seen them get bullied by tetras, in my experience they're just peaceful fish that chill out on the bottom and sift through the sand

This is rather comical for me since I have 3 weather loaches with my 3 black moors. Anyway I've never heard of weather loaches being aggressive, has anyone else? Also, op, is that actually a black moor?

It's possible your Moor bumped or scraped its eye and the injury attracted the loaches. Moors have notoriously bad eyesight and the bulging eyes are an appealing target (protein) to many fish. Its challenging finding 'safe' tankmates. I'd recommend switching to sand. Hope your fishy gets better.

I think that's probably what happened. Caught a Cory cat going after it too. Just fancies in there now. Luckily he s still active and eating.
