I have NO IDEA which category to place this! I have 3 Dojo Loaches, all about 6" finger fat around in size. The 2 younger ones are fine. The old man was a rescue, I think he's 6 year old, he had chewed off fins, but that was last summer. He usually whips all over the tank really fast.

Past Week: He's hiding, not eating, crawling on the filter tubes so his entire body including his eyes are above water. Just his mouth, whiskers and tip of tail are in the water.

55 gal, community, happy, friendly tank, upped it to 81.5 (Dojo's like it about a degrees or two cooler), put some extra salt, my parameters are fine, uv filter attached to an external canister. Gravel sustrate, no new fish since the evil fish tank disease struck. He is fed frozen bloodworms, won't eat them.

He may just be old?? Life span, I do not know. Other loaches are fine.....
OK I give?????? Help?

onset, within the last 5 days....

Have any water param info? Is it ich? 81.5 deg sounds pretty high for a dojo. I'll move this to bottom dwellers.

HEY WURM! PARAMS: ammonia: 0 ppm, Nitrate: 0, Nitrate half way between o and 5.0, pretty light yellow still. Rechecked temp, os now 79.5, temp's been difficult with the severe changes of dark and hot day to night right now, only within 2 degrees though.

The huge winter snows are melting fast, the glacial runoff and goundwater is heavy, It's well water...could be a factor...???

Don't think it's ich, that's whats weird, my tank is healthy, I run the uv filter as well.

I was thinking maybe he's just getting old?

Could definitely be old age, can't do anything about that.

I don't think it is old age, water quality, or ich. I have never had a dojo have ich, or suffer from water quality. They are very very resistant. As for age, these are some long lived fish. I think he is starting to suffer from the temperature. It is way too high. My dojos were comfortable at 74, but most active at 70-72. They didn't like it when I bumped up my temp to 86 to treat a ich infection in my 75g.
