Dojo Loaches

What does it mean when 2 or my 3 Dojo Loaches go racing back and forth along the bottom edge of my tank ... are they mating? ... because the 3rd one looks heart-broken in the far corner by itself. This started up about 3 months ago now ... I've had the one loach over 2 yrs. picked up 2 more last year, but they're all the same size.

Could be or could be playing. Mine would race across the tank for hours.
