I have two albino gibby's, one about 10" the other about 8" in length. My intent was to keep them both to raise as show fish 'cause I've never seen a full grown albino of this species and I really like them, but I have a chance to pick up some young Uaru a. for a breeding project and may be able to use the cats in trade.

I know regular gibbys don't command a high price at large sizes, although I think that in their regular color morph they are absolutely beautiful, but since I don't have experience in seeing albinos anywhere locally I thought I'd ask here: what kind of fair dollar value/trade value could I expect to get for them?

I mean a fair worth that you'd see generally, not what one person who really wants them would be willing to pay.

The price is going down. Back in the mid 90's I paid $75 from a dealer(before LFS) for a 2 inch.

Last summer a LFS was selling them for $5.99( This store always sells plecos cheap). I'd throw a guess out there that they run about $15-$20 for a 2inch.

I've never seen a bigger one for sale, since they can get as big as a non-albino , I'd follow the same rule that not many people would want them.

But this would be a guess.

Wow! I didn't see my first one until I bought mine last year. They were $6 but labeled as albino Bushynose. I didn't look closely because I never considered there could be a mis-labeling, and I wanted to breed BNs. Imagine my surprise when they hit 6" and I thought I had the biggest Bushynoses in the world! :)
