Hi all
Quick background
I set up my first ever fish tank this summer ☺
I have a 75 gal african cichlid tank.
8 assorted (still working on the names)
2 blue dolphins
2 cat fish
1 pecto
Lots of rocks

I have been told that the dolphins will need more room but would be ok for a yr or 2. I was only planning to keep one and turn the other one back in for a swap later as I had bought it as a buy 1 get 1 free sale.
After a couple casualties at the first 2 weeks of the tank being fully stocked (for now) they have all settled in.

I stocked the tank with "all male" fishes or so I thought

Fast forward 5months and I now have 1 of the 2 blue dolphins in a 20 gal tank waiting for her to release her fry. ☺
I had a hard time catching her as I am learning how to even net fish it's harder then it looks
She was great, even after all of the fuss I made, she never dropped her eggs. I did find a fry/egg in the new tank about 2 days after she was put in the tank. Picture attached. That was about 16 days ago. I think she picked it up later because I could not find it later that day.. And I looked
How much longer do you think it will be before I get to see them swim ☺ can't wait to see them in full form ☺

So I should start to see them soon ☺ very excited. I think we are at that time frame now.
I bought some frozen baby shrimp brine to feed them but I am clueless as to when to start. I don't want to muck up the water by putting food in there and no one is eating it. But I don't want to starve them either.

Thanks.
I am hoping to find some really good Black Friday deals on aquariums so I can get them transfered into a larger tank before this one gets to crowded. I lost track of the count at 31 fry and I think there are more then that. I figure a 55 gal tank should be a good size for growing them out. ☺

I used to strip mine around three weeks. I have some adults again now but no breeding so maybe all the same gender.

Live baby brine shrimp is nice for a couple weeks if you don't mind the hatching and fuss. Crushed flake or pellet food is great if it is fine enough.

For me these are one of the slowest growing cichlids from fry stage.

Spawns can be huge for mouth brooders. I pulled out 95 live swimming fry once from a Blue Dolphin! Spawns over 50 very common.

Thank you.
I am feeding frozen baby brine 2 to 3x a day. And as for the number of fry... It looks like mine has around that 50 mark....big surprise for me because of how small she is (about 3 1/2 in). I was under the impression that the first set would most likely be a small one.... Guess that was not true..at least not this time . ☺
