Trout Island
I totally forgot to ask when I first joined. One time I was fishing for salmon on the Feather river in Oroville California(near Sacramento) and we were using lures. My friend was a ways down river and yells out he snagged a fish. He held it up and it looked like a 2 foot pleco. It was yellow-brownish and had the sucker mouth. Are these native or was it introduced? He threw it back before I could really take a look.

introduced. there are big populations of plecos throughout the US. To be honest, you should have kept it or killed it.

Shoulda sold it. TAssuming by the yellow colr you could get quite a bit for it.

if it was what i think it is i have seen 100's in the lake buy my house. we catch them durning the spawning season in the platte river. there are so many you can literaly reach in the water and grap them =-)

Sounds like a common to me.

It probably wasnt a pleco if it was in a coldwater river...maybe it was a sucker?

Can you tell me the difference?

Plecos have a "hard" skin, while suckers feel more like a "regular" fish, and have very small scales like a trout or salmon.
