Doing water changes
Basically i had a breeding pair of convicts that had and raised about 8 fry. But when i got off work and came home to feed them the male had killed the female. They are in a 20 gallon tank so im thinking it was too small. Anyone have had this happen?

I had this happen to me as well. I think that a 20g might be too small. I had them in a 20g and after the male killed the female, I thought that at least a 29g would've been better.

Im going to have a 55 free soon since i was holding an oscar for my girlfriend but she is taking him back know that she has the room. Do you guys think a 55 with 2 pairs of convicts would be too much or they would be fine. Im trying to figure out a way to get healthy feeders since i dont like rosies cause they are sick and i dont like having to quarentine fish just so i can give them a treat

i have males that are around 5-6inches. with big heads and are purty aggressive. so if you have any like mine then 2 males will not be good in a 55 IMO. however if they are small pairs then yes they will be fine. also if they are smaller pairs, and they breed fairly young, you shouldn't have any probs with them getting 5inches, becasue IME when the breed at small/young then they will most likey grown very slowly. so you won't have to worry about them getting 5+inches. hope this helps :)

I forgot to mentio i was thinking of putting in a divider and then some plants in front of the divider so that they cant see the other pair of convicts

Cool im going to grow some out the left over fry and then try to find another female and then get another pair. The female convicts have that orange or red spot on there side right?
