I have a group of 5 midevils in the 2-5 inch range hoping to end up with a pair. However I'm pretty sure the largest most dominant one is a female. Second in the pecking order is a nicely shaped male that the fem boss tolerates more than the others but is still outranked. Wondering if they can ever pair up like this? Will the male catch up or do o have to remove the dominant female and hope the male pairs up with one of the smaller unknowns?

What makes you think it's a female? You must vent midevils or have them lay eggs. I have a huge female looks male was the biggest out of 100 I grew out and was the alpha. She bred with my 14" Flowerhorn and the whole time I thought it was a male. I know don't know what to do with the my female. The female is hurting my other fish right now her tubes dropped so I took her out of the tank.

If it's indeed a female she might lay with a male but should be around the same size but I've seen mismatches before. My other bonsai Flowerhorn female which is 3-4" known breeder is trying to pair up with my 14" Flowerhorn now since I took the other female out. It's crazy the size difference he doesn't seem to be so fond of her. My flowerhorns kok dropped in size I think he's sad lol

Midevil posts get bumped to the flowerhorn section now? Wow that's a new one. I guess it technically may or may not be a hybrid. Plenty of other midevil posts in ca/SA
