Started out with a group of small zz have 2 males and one female left. Was hoping to end up with either a single male or a pair since the fem is pretty nice. However the female is larger and chases the males my question is should I remove the female is her dominance affecting the males proper development? Pretty sure there's no chance of a pair when the female is dominant anyway. These fish are all about 3"

I would leave them together everytime I pair a bigger female with a smaller male she always bullies the male sound and most every pair I've had the female started out bigger but the male catches up eventually you can chance taking one or the other out but when you reintroduce them again there's going to be more of a size difference and they will reestablish the pecking order of the tank which is sometimes far worse I recently lost a my best female due to this and she was originally the meanest of the bunch

When it comes to FH, they should all be seperated. She is creating a stressful environment for the rest of the fish. Break out some dividers.

Only put them together once you see a tube drop. Sometimes it can take months for a female to become interested in a male to lay eggs. Either way your male needs to be larger then your female otherwise your female will beat the male up very badly.

For sure separate them. Females can be evil and will screw your males up bad. When I bred my silk to my srd female she almost ripped an eye right out of his head.

Evil and screw up males bad. So pretty similar to how it works with people... J/k
