So probably the biggest mistake I have made thus far was purchasing a 37g tank. It sucks. It's basically a tall 29g. For the weight and space it takes up you could have a 40g breeder which has much more area for the fish to swim and live in. 37g suck for various reasons. They're too tall, they're more expensive than a 29g, they have a small footprint which means not as many aggressive/territorial fish, they're hard to make look good, and their decreased footprint means they have decreased gas exchange at the surface. Unless your are planning on using it to breed angelfish or some other fish that enjoys a deep tank, do yourself a favor and buy a 30 or bigger with at least a 36 inch length.
