So I woke up to the sound of an aquaclear running dry in the middle of the night.... apparently something got stuck in the impeller, So I got out of bed around three am pulled it off the 55 it was running pulled it out cleared the clog put it back got it started, noticed how good it was running now and went to sleep.... well woke up to about 40 or so gallons of water on the floor as when i put the motor back in the seal didnt seal right...:irked:

Fish are fine... my carpet is not..


lesson learned.....

do not mess with filters unless you have the time to observe ( oh and your eyes are open) lol
 
That sucks. I fell asleep while filling my 225 and woke up about 15 mins after it was filled to the sound of water hitting the floor in the family room. I know how that feels.
 
Water spills happen to us all. My tank seal went when I wasn't home during the winter and caused $5000 in damages.

I've overflowed my sump three times. Once really bad. Don't start a water change and sit down in the other room to watch any show you're remotely interested in. I felt like the mom from Home Alone when it hit me "Kevin!" Lol. Sucks to hear man but it happens to a lot of us.

I had same promblem with my aquaclear 110. Lucky for me a caught the promblem and reset the motor in the filter box so it was then sealed. Now the dam thing is making a grinding noise.
 
I've had that happen to! Except I went to a buddies for the weekend and parents said there was water everywhere. The aquaclear seal broke and only about 2 g of water on the ground. Another time I was draining my tank yo flip iit around and I swear I took the siphon out of the bucket went upstairs for food about 10g of water on the ground. Concrete floors ftw $0 in damage just a humid room with tons of damp towels!

My fish life is sparked up with Polys :)

Yeah! I've done that. And also, don't play any video game you're remotely into. Especially if you can't pause it at any moment you want!
