Hey all. Im on MFK everyday even though i've never posted before. Absolutely love this site and the MFK hobby. I currently have a 125 and a 180 gallon set up at home. One day i will build my own monster but financially can't do it right now. The reason i'm posting is my obsession with DIY builds and the fact that i really need to earn some extra income. I built homes for 10 years and have very good skills in framing and finish woodworking. So basicly i'm looking to make some money and build you the tank you want but maybe can't build yourself. PM me for more details or tell me what your looking to do and i'll work up some pricing for you. I'll do stands, tanks, etc. Looking to stay local as i'll be doing this from home.
You can PM me with any questions you might have. Thanks for looking guys, Brian

I have been looking at this site for a while and decided to finally join. I came across your post and I'm in NY too and am wondering where in NY you are and if you can quote me a price on a tank stand and canopy if I PM you the specs?

i wish you and I were closer in proximity. I'm wanting a canopy built. Good luck with your new business venture. You've picked the right target market.

Yes Zookajoe i'll quote you a price just give me as much details as you can about what your looking to do.
Also guys if you want i'll put pictures up on here of the things i make for people so you can follow the progress of the builds :)

Thats an excellent Idea.

As someone that has built tanks and stands commercially in the past. I'd make sure you have a decent skill set before you go about it.

It's a lot of work. Many hours involved. It took my father and I many attempts and a lot of thought and planning to make things work well and quickly. For one off custom stuff its not as big a deal. But we were making 50 or so stands a month so we made jigs. A jig is your friend. If you make more then one of anything a jig is the way to go.

You'll have to figure in your labor. But until you've built 0ne or two you won't know how long it's gonna take you.

Best of luck and most definitely post pics.

Glad to have another DIY fanatic on the site. I would love to see a thread with some of your designs. Also, feel free to pitch in helping others work through their designs as well. Experience is an invaluable commodity on this site.

If you are wanting to build tanks and stands for individuals for a fee, please post an ad in the MFK Marketplace. As a reminder, please be sure to check the title rules to ensure your thread doesn't get closed.
