Some of my fishes are scratching themselves against the sand and driftwood. I thoguht at first they have a parasite on them, but when i look closer, there's nothing wrong w/ them. Checked their scales if somethings missng. But they're all intact. Feeding well. Just change the water and added some salt, and still doing it(scratching). Does this things happen to your fishes guys or there's a paraiste i don't know. If there is a paraiste, what should i do?

THEY HAVE ICH!!!! but its an early stage! not an obvious sign it can still be combated

raise the temp to 82-84 and add 2-4 tbl spoons per 5 gal

and include a vitamin suppliment like vita-chem or zoe to boost their immune system

and add it to the food not the water

you add it to the water and your just wasting it

most importantly keep up on the water quality

my fish went through the same thing, i was concerned at first but nothing progressed so i dismissed it

only later did i see they came down with the ich parasite

learned from experience, now im passing this down to you

It could easily be early stages of ich or clostia and the 2 teaspoons of salt per gallon with temp. in mid 80s will take care of that, there are other diseases such as flukes, velvet, oodinium that are not as common and need stronger methods of treatment. Flukes show up as small moving dark spots and both velvet and oodinium show up as yellow pollen like spots, there are specific meds for these.

My water temp right now is 80F. I'll do that as soon as i get home. THanks guys.

OK. I increased the temp to 85 now and added salt. I'll give an update on what happened. My black is still scratching itself.

It starts clearing up in a day or 2 but keep the treatment up for at least 10 days or it comes back.

Need i remind you the dangers of feeding feeders? try to quarantine your feeders next time in a separate 10g tank for a week

with salt! Try 2 20g storage bins as holding tanks for the feeders and start the quarantines a week apart then feed from one for a week then the other, that way your feeders have been salted for at least a week before use.
