i have a young australian about 4 inches long in a 55 gallon tank. The water is fine ive change the water not too long ago. After this one night i fed it guppies, the next day wen i tried to feed it guppies again he didnt eat them. So i left the guppies in the tank over night and the next day the guppies were gone. Then tonite i tried feeding it sumthing else, its not eating again. . . i dont know if all of a sudden he just got used to eating in the dark or what? Cuz it worries me that hes not eating normally. :irked:

yeh dw my arowana only used to eat in the dark all the time. slowly but surely ure jar will build up its confidence level. dont worry its normalllll

Yeah mine was the same way when it was tiny. It would only eat live fish and only when the lights were out. He's about 8" now and dashes to the top of the tank to eat pellets whenever I open the lid! They are just very shy until they get some size. Be patient, you will not be disappointed!

don't worrie... just varie the diet andd keep water clean ;)

make sure that the posture of your arowana is such that the back tail is slightly lower than the front portion of its body. if that is the case chances are your arowana is not sick.

thx to all that commented. Anyways i starved it for 2 days and i bought sum live feeder shrimps, he ate them no problem, just that he has sum trouble catching them but other than that i think everythings back to normal. yAY!!

cool. i still think u should try feeding pellets. they are just all round the best stabilizing diet because they never upset the tummy and the arow will almost always readily accept them.

Hmm i dont know. Right now my aro doesnt eat any dried food, pellets, dried shrimp, planktons, etc. He doesnt like non live food. So i guess ima have to train him, which could be a lil difficult. Ima have to starve him until he eats dried food. . . =(
