I was doing a water change and the lid to my HOB filter was off. My gf looked and thought the algae growing on the slopes back into the tank was gross and decied to see what it felt like. Right about the time her finger got to it I tensed up and said DONT DO THAT!! but alas i was too late. She wiped across the clumps of algae and broke loose huge chunks that went spilling into my freshly cleaned and refilled tank.....
But I geuss really I should just keep my filters cleaner.:(

Exactly right but you know she needs more info from you about the aquarium on how to clean. What to do & what not to do. But it's a bumber to get a fresh tank dirty again my gf does know somethings that i teach her. I do all the cleaning of my tanks she only helps if i ask her.

Yeah she usually helps out a lot, mostly with the refilling and what not. It was just this once and I thought it was comical enough to deserve a post.

thats not that bad, be careful yellin at your girl for doin things she didnt know where wrong, they dont like that lol. My ex was helping me gravel vac once and as anal as I am, I starting critiquing the way she was doing it, she got all pissed and vowed to never help me again. I had to let her do the whole thing without saying a word so that she proved she could "do" it.

Well, at least your girlfriends HELP you out when needed... mine just complains and says "they're your fish, i just like looking at them"

My wife enjoys watching the tank and always wants to help. But I never let her. She can be an airhead at times (but a smokin hot airhead). I was changing out my 75 to a 125, moving fish into buckets. She comes over and starts giggling saying that looks fun. (Oh yeah, real fun) So I give her my 14'' net and tell her to take the 9'' severum out and put him in the 18 gallon tupperware bin I had off to the side. As soon as she got him near the top of the water, obviously there was gonna be a big splash. Well she got soaked! I was laughin my ass off! She didnt think it was too funny since she just got her hair done.

The only thing I would allow someone to help me with...no one volunteers for :( Carrying buckets of water... :D

my little bro does that, ive got two buckets i fill one up and he dumps it while i fill the other. I dont know why but he loves to help with the fish. Maybe a future fish keeper.

Anybody touches my tank ill killem ;)

I dont care how dirty it looks

my g/f hates my tanks, it would be cool to have your g/f act interested and help you out. i wouldnt yell at her for touching bacteria even if it went in the tank, it wouldnt take long to clean up. your lucky.
