I just looked through my catfish book and it states that the Clarias batrachus is also known as the Walking catfish which is widespread in Asian rivers and is banned from this country,so I stand uncorrected.

There are upsides and downsides to any change in the ecosystem. Some species will thrive while others will be imperiled.

Not too many people would eat round gobies, zebra mussel and ruffe. Im not see lots of benefits on invasives.

Brook trout are introduced here and no one has a problem.

(they were introduced from the eastern side of canada)

BUT african jewelfish caused the expiration of longnose dace. I dunno...

If you introduced a native trout into a landlocked pond, would it have bad affect? YES... on the insect larva and other invertebrates. Brine shrimp cannot compete with fishes... and large aquatic larvae like damselfly and dragonfly would decrease. Hence, the mosquito population might increase... unless we introduced a small fish too. THEN there would be less daphnia too. NOoOO

It is controversial...
