So I'm thinking of adding a dorado to my 180g tank with my Aimara. Someone is selling one locally. It's about 9-10in and my Aimara is close to 8in. Bad idea? I'm guessing with two of them in the 180 is going to getting small much quicker than when solitary.

Currently run 3 ac110s and a hydor 1650 power head. Would probably add a couple large sponge filters for extra bio and maybe another power head.

Thoughts?

Forgot to mention that the current owner said its off live, in a community 380g where it is not being aggressive at all.

I would suggest for a video (not too short) clip of the dorado in its current tank from the seller to observe the behaviour first with other fishes. Hopefully I am not offending the seller if he is in the forum. :)

A 30-40 second clip will probably tell if the dorado is a rowdy fellow amongst its tank mates or not.

It's a member on here. I requested a vid. It's in a tank with a tinfoil barb, stingray, and arrowana.

Regardless, I take it this is very risky?

I believe it can work, but not just the two, since they get big, I think you should get some tinfoil barbs or wide bar SD to disperse any aggression, because they are territorial, and when it's the two they'll only take it out on eachother.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Seller decided not to sell so won't being picking up. Not sure I was going to grab anyway. I hate anything to happen to either fish and I think a 180g would lead to problems.
