Ok guys, I need some advice. I am about to go off to college. I'm trying to decide which to bring, a 10 or a 20L. I am trying to keep my costs to a minimum, I already have a light for the 10, but would need to get one for the 20. They would be semi-planted, I won't do CO2.

Biggest thing is, they either have to be taken down and moved a 2-hour car ride away three times per year, or go for 2 weeks without any attention whatsoever twice per year and only be taken down once per year.

I would love the 20, but I would think moving it would be much harder than the 10? I'm leaning towards the 10, probably with some cardinals, maybe a pair of killifish, but do you guys have any advice? What has everyone else done during college?

BTW, I have already checked and yes the college does allow fish in their dorms.

i say go with the 20. If you are moving a ten is it really that much harder to move a 20? you still need to take out almost all the water, make sure the fish are okay, etc etc. you don't really need a 20 light for a 20 tank. if you are trying to keep things in a on a budget just throw the 10 light on the 20 tank until you get more money.
Eheim sells a product that is an automatic feeder. i don't have one but i think it clips on to the back of the tank and drops food in the tank according to when you set it. i think it lasts for at least a week but im not sure.....although I think it cost 50 or 60 bucks. so i say go with the 20....the college hotties will like it that much more.

When i was in college I keep a feeder goldfish in an empty 40 oz beer bottle for a few months before it died. I called the set up "Life in the bottle" and it was a tribute to my always drunk roommate. goodluck.

I had a ten in my dorm last year and it was enough. You're gonna be busy and fish wont be your priority.
