I have a piece of aggregate shell rock I took from shell beach in Florida about 4 yrs ago. I found it and bag of shells in drawer and thought it would look cool and have more surface area than dead coral dry rock in my faux reef pico.
The pico itself is freshwater made to look saltwater/corals with shrimp. 2 days after I put it in white snot started growing out of it on the side facing the light. Then the balls of snot took form of tubes that drifted in the strong current. Now they are dead and ravaged, probably because it was not marine water.
Do marine worms or sponges go dormant, dry in a drawer for years?
No pics: none would come out they were size of sunflower seeds but couldn't get anything on iPhone camera
